the Europartrain
a contemporary multimedia project, which is crossing boarders on an international, national, organisational and personal level. The journey
The Europartrain
an international contemporary art project by the artist Hans Kalliwoda and executed by the Blindpainters Foundation in Amsterdam. The europartrain traveled through Europe, dynamically collecting railway carriages from every country to initiate and stimulate the interaction and cooperation between the different European cultures. In every city where the europartrain stopped festivals, manifestations and exhibitions have been organised.
The people
People on train stations could step into one carriage and by walking from wagon to wagon, they crossed the entire continent without the train being in motion.
Artists from all over Europe were invited to come to the europartrain and create art works that are representative of the present European cultural climate.
Our Mission & Vision
A temporary autonomous and mobile space delivering extraordinary experiances and inspiration to many local communities and individuals.
The train was exhibited in 23 European train stations attracting over 100.000 visitors, while simultaniously six books have been published accompanied by an art-documentary film that you can find back in libraries of contemporary art centres like the Tate London, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, etc.
